Growth of Self-Realization Fellowship in North Texas

As awareness of Paramahansa Yogananda and his life’s teachings has continued to grow worldwide, the DFW Meditation Group since 1972 has supported the work of the organization he founded in 1920, Self-Realization Fellowship.

A Vision for a Permanent Spiritual Home

In 2008, the DFW Meditation Group established a Long-Term Planning Committee (LTPC) to lead the initiative of establishing a permanent SRF Chapel. To support our efforts for a new home, in 2009 SRF established a tax exempt DFW Building Fund account at the SRF Mother Center in Los Angeles.

The Search and a Generous Gift

Over the years, members of the LTPC—alongside the Managing Council and dedicated members—have diligently explored numerous options, including church properties, commercial buildings, and vacant land. After extensive research, site visits, and even submitting a bid on one location, a breakthrough came in November 2024 when a long time devotee generously offered to donate a beautiful property in Richardson, located directly across from  Cottonwood Park

Following a thorough tour and evaluation, the Group voted to explore the feasibility of accepting the donation as the future home of the SRF Chapel.

A New Chapter Begins

 After a full year of due diligence and receiving approval from both the Group and the SRF Center Department, we are pleased to announce that we are ready to begin the renovation project for our future home.
